Love this series. One point not covered here, however, is that bad actions often come from bad thoughts first, followed by small steps toward bad things. The concept of "wading into sin rather than diving into sin."

My grandmother taught me many things in life, but the most important one was: You can never get in trouble for what you think, but always get in trouble for what you say. I guess we can use this saying and change saying to actions.

I don't have the time or patience to wait and tell Dennis by phone my opinion of his views so I just used this site as a platform to vent even if my posting came off as a non sequitur. I'm tired of the constant sniping at President Obama for the pettiest of reasons from right wing talk show hosts.

We are only capable of judging actions. I can never really know what another is thinking in their mind. What alternative thoughts they may be having are known only to God. I can only know when they act on their true feelings. The world wanted to believe that Hitler wasn't a threat until he acted and the truth was known.

Actions trump thoughts when it comes to creating a better society, but deeds alone are inadequate for determining who’s a good person. It may be that to God not only are adultery and murder immoral, but so are lust and hate. And what the rich give from their surplus may be less commendable than the “widow’s mite.” As humans we cannot always know another’s motivations, but we can know our own. And while some bad thoughts are involuntary and sprout like weeds, how we tend the garden of the mind is an integral part of our goodness.

I believe that though the examples he gives are great for supporting his thesis, the title of this video should be Actions, not Intentions matter. I do believe thoughts matter, they are warning signs for actions that may come. I premeditated murder is thought about before being acted out. If we can stop that thought, we can stop the action.
